LOGISTICS SUMMIT SCHEDULED
The Institute for Defense and
Government Advancement is hosting the 2006 Military Logistics Summit
18 through 20 September at the Sheraton Premiere at Tysons
Corner in Vienna, Virginia. Attendees will be able to share case
studies, view new and emerging technologies, network with their peers,
define challenges, and benchmark progress with military logistics
experts. Participants may visit any of three focused breakout
tracks: Total Asset Visibility, Supply Chain Management on the
Battlefield, and Performance Based Logistics. More information

ARMY DEPLOYMENT
EXCELLENCE AWARD NOMINATIONS
The Army is accepting nominations
for the 2007 Deployment Excellence Award (DEA). Units that executed
or supported a training or contingency deployment between 1 December
2005 and 30 November 2006 are eligible to participate in the award
program. Units and installations are encouraged to begin planning
their nomination now.
Important DEA dates are—
- 1 December
2005 to 30 November 2006. Submit nomination packets through command
channels.
- 31 January
2007. Nomination packets are due from the major commands to the DEA
evaluation board.
- 5 to 16
February 2007. DEA board screens unit packets to select
semifinalists.
- 1 to 25
March 2007. DEA teams visit selected semifinalists and conducts
on-site observation of deployment practices.
- 9 April
2007. Army G—4 selects and announces winners.
- 17 May
2007. DEA awards are presented at the Chief of Staff Army Combined
Logistics Excellence Award Ceremony and Banquet.

TWO DEFENSE CONFERENCES SLATED FOR JULY
ADAPT 2006. The American Defense
Acquisition and Procurement Transformation (ADAPT) 2006 Conference
will be held 18 and 19 July at the Westin Arlington Gateway in
Arlington, Virginia. The conference will address efforts to transform
Department of Defense acquisition and procurement business systems
into an accountable, integrated, end-to-end supply chain. To register

DEFENSE FINANCE 2006. Defense
Finance 2006 will be held 17-20 July 2006, also at the Westin
