Scope:
The course is intended to satisfy the requirement of yearly Resource
Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) (40 CFR 264.16 (a)(1) and 265.16
(a)(1)) update training for hazardous waste handlers.
Special Information:
Nominees must have successfully completed the Defense Hazardous Materials/Waste Handling Course prior to enrolling in this course.

Prerequisites:
This course serves as an annual review for those employees that have successfully completed the Defense Hazardous Material/Waste Handling Course (DHMWHC). In addition, nominees should be civilian personnel (GS 5-12 or equivalent WG), military personnel (WO - CPT or E4-E7) and contractors whose jobs include: 1) Trade occupations, i.e., welder, electrician, mechanic, painter, carpenter, motor vehicle operator, fork lift operator, or explosives operator; 2) Managing a Satellite Accumulation Point (SAP), Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area, Hazardous Material Control Center (HMCC), or Waste Water Treatment Facility; or 3) USMC military personnel whose job requires training to obtain a secondary MOS 9954 (HM/HW). This course is also appropriate for installation support staff responsible for hazardous compliance, Industrial Hygienist, safety personnel, pest control personnel, or quality assurance personnel who are responsible for inspecting contractor operated hazardous materials/hazardous waste facilities. If one year has lapsed since a nominee has had training in this area, then they must retake the Defense Hazardous Materials/Waste Handling Course (DHMWHC) or equivalent prior to taking this course.
